Operational since 1956, Sunset Hills Elementary School provides educational programs for more than 140 students in kindergarten through grade six. Its academic curriculum includes English, science, music, foreign language, art, Spanish, physical education, reading, writing, social studies and math. The school operates the Sunset Hills Community Club, which conducts various landscaping and fine arts programs and school carnivals. Sunset Hills Elementary School also operates the Sunset Early Childhood Center, which offers a preschool program for children between the ages of 3 and 5. The school conducts parent-teacher conferences that encourage parental involvement in student education. It additionally offers various before- and after-school care programs. The school conducts special education classes for students with disabilities. Located in Omaha, Neb., Sunset Hills Elementary School is a part of the Westside Community School District, which serves over 5,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12.
