Founded in 1986, Swansboro Elementary School provides academic and recreational programs for students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school has a media center that offers a collection of picture dictionaries, atlases, storybooks, puzzles, and fiction and nonfiction books. It maintains a parent-teacher association that organizes spelling bee competitions and parent conferences. Swansboro Elementary School volunteers the Richmond Audubon Society and organizes the Gentlemen of Swansboro program. The school s core curriculum includes English, math, science, language arts and social studies. It also provides instruction in art, music, Spanish and physical education. Swansboro Elementary School additionally offers Title I programs. The school is governed by Richmond Public Schools.
