Swinerton was founded as a small contractor in 1888. The company offers construction services to business clients throughout the Western United States. Professional services offered to clients include general contracting, building/site analysis, preconstruction, design-build/assist, procurement, property management, construction management, loan monitoring and value management. During the early 1900s, the company relocated to San Francisco (the current headquarters) and was a participant in the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake and resultant fire. Swinerton began to expand and provide services outside of California, establishing its first office in Denver, Colo. This expansion continued with additional offices added in Bellevue, Wash., Portland, Ore., and Honolulu, Hawaii. Swinerton was formed as the holding company for Harbison-Mahony-Higgins in Sacramento, and Lyda Swinerton Builders in Houston and San Antonio, in order to supply them with centralized corporate support services. Swinerton maintains its offices in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.
