The Ark, founded in 1971, is a Jewish social service organization, based in Chicago. It delivers medical, social welfare, legal and similar services in the spirit of charitable acts for the Jewish community. Its programs include providing social and health services, transitional housing for the homeless and activities and holiday programs for senior citizens. The organization runs a food pantry, arranges job placements and runs an elder care service . It also provides other services such as psychiatric counseling, programs for mentally ill adults and spiritual enrichment programs. The Ark encourages all members to become aware and further their Jewish identity, customs and traditions.
