Atlanta Opera, based in Atlanta, presents opera productions and promotes its growth through a variety of community services and programs. Founded in 1979, the organization offers four main stage productions every season, and other additional programs, such as preopera lectures, and student matinees. It employs a staff of more than 25 individuals, and conducts chorus auditions to recruit artists. Atlanta Opera provides an annual publication, Souvenir Season Program, containing program highlights for the upcoming season, an analysis of every production, details of corporate and individual donations, and artist information. The organization rents a hall for rehearsals, auditions, meetings, and special events. It provides various facilities in its hall, including hardwood flooring, dance mirrors, pianos, natural and electrical lighting, projectors, microphones, speakers, and amplifiers and mixers.
