What You Expect at The Birthplace at Mercy
As one of the first hospitals to offer private childbearing rooms, Mercy knows how important it is to experience labor, delivery, and recovery all in the same room, surrounded by your loved ones. At The Birthplace at Mercy Fore River, we are committed to having you stay in the same private room from the moment you arrive until you take your baby home - a practice known as LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum care all in the same room).
There are two operating rooms devoted to 24-hour emergency care right in The Birthplace. If a C-section is required, we are ready - although we're proud to point out that our C-section rate is well below Maine's average.
