Menil Collection is a museum housing the collection of John and Dominique de Menil. The museum building features satellite gallery spaces and related cultural institutions set in a park-like setting. The collection consists of more than 15,000 works dating from the Paleolithic era to the present day. The antique art, which includes works from Paleolithic to later pre-Christian eras, consists of a collection of historical material from Europe and Asia Minor. It has Byzantine artifacts and icon paintings, along with a small selection of medieval art. Its tribal art collection includes meticulously executed masks and daily essentials, such as combs and bowls. The collection of 20th century art focuses on European modernism, Surrealism and American postwar art. It organizes programs and events that are open to the public and are held at Menil Collection.
