Dr. Nixon is a 2009 graduate of The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where she was awarded the Benjamin K. Rush award for Outstanding Senior Student in Psychiatry. She completed her psychiatry residency training at the University of Oklahoma Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in 2012, where she served as co-chief resident and received the Ismet Khan Memorial Award for Professionalism, Leadership, and Scholarship in Residency. She also completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in 2014, where she served as co-chief fellow. Dr. Nixon has been published in the Oklahoma State Medical Journal and received the Hamilton Clinic Writing Award for Outstanding Writing in Mental Health for her work on school bullying. She is board certified in Psychiatry and board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She will complete her Child and Adolescent Board Certification examination in September 2014. She maintains membership in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Oklahoma Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Oklahoma Psychiatric Physicians Association, the Central Oklahoma Psychiatric Society, and the American Medical Association. Her passion is improving the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents.
