Founded in 1978, The Family Center is one of the leading child abuse prevention agencies in the United States. The center provides therapeutic, educational and preventative services to children and families. It offers specialty programs and community-based services with a focus on children's rights, education and welfare. The Family Center provides a variety of services related to nurturing, infant mental health, in-home family education, parent-child interaction and child, adolescent and family therapies. The center delivers diagnostic assessments that are conducted by a team of licensed professionals who evaluate children's mental health needs and functions and provide an individualized treatment plan. Through its school based services, The Family Center provides a researched-based, nationally recognized parent empowerment program. The center maintains an office in Charlotte, N.C.
