The Tucson Urban League was founded in 1971 in response to a significantly high unemployment rate among minorities in Tucson, Ariz. The nonprofit organization offers case management, education, employment and training and housing resources. Established in 1910, The Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community- based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. Headquartered in New York City, the National Urban League has more than 100 local affiliates located in 35 states providing direct services to more than 2 million people through programs, advocacy and research.
