The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery offers a range of services in the areas of head and neck cancer, facial plastic, voice disorders, laser surgery, trauma, pediatric otolaryngology and otology, audiology and allergy. It also provides thyroid, skull base, reconstructive, sinus, and cleft lip and palate surgery services. The department additionally offers rehabilitative services through speech therapies and intraoral, extraoral, facial and ocular prostheses. The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery operates the Voice and Swallowing Center, which specializes in the evaluation, treatment and management of voice and swallowing disorders, including chronic hoarseness, reflux, vocal cord paralysis, spasmodic dysphonia, singing difficulties and aspiration. The department is a part of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), which has an enrollment of more than 2,500 students in various academic units.
