Founded in 1912, the Department of Poultry Science provides educational services for students and poultry producers. It serves poultry-related businesses through the discovery, verification and dissemination of relevant and science-based knowledge. The department also offers a variety of academic programs in general chemistry, physics, biology and math. The Department of Poultry Science provides courses in nutrition, physiology, microbiology and management. It also serves allied industry representatives, county extension personnel and small flock producers. In addition, the department offers research and outreach programs. The Department of Poultry Science is staffed with associate professors, technicians, administrative associates, secretaries and specialists. Located in Athens, Ga., the Department of Poultry Science is a part of The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
