The first Uncle Julio's Hacienda opened in Dallas in November 1986. With distinctive Hacienda decorating style, the founders created the restaurant around a unique concept and original recipes. The restaurant's popularity has grown since, and with it has come an instant craze for a drink named The Swirl, a frozen concoction of layered margarita and homemade sangria. Uncle Julio s Hacienda specializes in marinated and mesquite grilled beef, tacos, enchiladas, tamales, chicken fajitas, ribs, quail, frog legs and jumbo shrimp. The restaurant offers catering services in addition to reservations for large parties and special occasions. It has grown to more than 10 restaurants located in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland and Virginia. Uncle Julio's Hacienda maintains a location in Chicago.
