United Way of the Coastal Empire is a volunteer-driven organization. It has more than 100 volunteers who through partnerships, long-term planning and investment of donor contributions support over 80 community programs and services in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties in Georgia. The organization works to reduce homelessness and relieve hunger in safe and drug- and alcohol-free facilities. United Way of the Coastal Empire also prepares individuals to acquire job skills and secure employment. It prepares children for school and offers various early childhood, after-school and mentoring programs. In addition, the organization provides opportunities to people with disabilities to live independent lives. United Way of the Coastal Empire maintains a location in Savannah, Ga.
