United Way of the Plains is a local, volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that addresses issues, such as care senior citizens and youths-at-risk. It serves clients in Sedgwick and surrounding counties in central Kansas. The organization is involved in coordinating various health and human services. United Way of the Plains raises funds to support more than 90 programs at local nonprofit organizations and to provide direct community services. It operates a 2-1-1 call center that connects people to nonprofit and government human services. The organization works with a team of over 200 volunteers who review community needs to direct funds and support to promote financial stability, improve health and increase education opportunities.
