The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is a part of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The college of medicine serves more than 12,000 students. Its academic syllabus includes various degree courses in anatomy, pathology, pharmacy, neuroscience, family medicine, pediatrics, microbiology and molecular basis of diseases. It also maintains anesthesiology, ophthalmology, physiology, preventive medicine, radiology, surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology departments. The University of Tennessee College of Medicine also participates in the Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy combined degree programs. The college maintains campuses in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Memphis, Tenn. It is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges and is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Established in 1911, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is one of the leading academic health centers in Tennessee.
