The University of Southern Nevada, located in Henderson, Nev., was originally established as the Nevada College of Pharmacy, a private, nonprofit institution. The University of Southern Nevada is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. It offers a three-year pharmacy program that includes courses in fundamentals of drug action and metabolism, genetic control, cell reproduction and protein synthesis. Additionally, its program covers various topics, such as metabolism, lipids, amino acids, cardiology, neurology, hematology and immunology, biostatistics, neuropharmocology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacy law and administration. The university also provides courses involving the study of cardiovascular, renal and pulmonary systems, endocrinology and psychiatry, pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics. It additionally offers drug and alcohol addiction education in health professions. The University of Southern Nevada also provides master of business administration degrees in marketing, organizational behavior and leadership. It has a library that offers dictionaries and encyclopedias, journals, medical-related resources, and online catalogs and databases.
