Formed in 1955, University of Mississippi Medical Center is an academic health science facility. Located in Jackson, Miss., the center encompasses six health science schools, such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, health related professions, graduate studies and pharmacy. It provides a range of patient care programs through four specialized hospitals on the Jackson campus, including a women hospital as well as a critical care hospital. The medical center also features level one trauma center, level three neonatal intensive care nursery and organ transplant programs across Mississippi.
