Established in 1966, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in health related subjects to more than 2,500 students. Located in San Antonio, it comprises a dental school, school of allied health sciences, nursing school and graduate school of biomedical sciences. The dental school offers programs in subjects that include community dentistry, dental diagnostic science, endodontics, general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. Additionally, the school of allied sciences offers courses in clinical laboratory sciences, emergency health sciences, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy and respiratory care. The university's library offers more than 200,000 books and journal volumes and over 8,000 electronic book titles, databases and e-journals. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
