With more than 30 years of experience, The Washington Center is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves various colleges and universities throughout the United States and world. It conducts a variety of academic seminars and internships for students, as well as promotes civic participation by engaging individuals with several companies, organizations, congressional offices and federal agencies. The center employs more than 60 full-time staff and has over 35,000 alumni in various organizations worldwide. Located in Washington, D.C., it provides motivated interns in the government, business and nonprofit sectors. The center additionally offers services to students with physical disabilities. It provides scholarship, housing opportunity, workplace accommodation and local transportation services. The Washington Center is funded by various private donors, foundations, corporations, and state and federal agencies.
