Wausau Area Hmong Association is a private, nonprofit organization that assists in the community integration and economic and social advancement of refugees in Marathon County, Wis. The organization has more than 10 employees serving over 6,000 Southeast Asian residents. It provides training and education and works in collaboration with school counselors and administrators, psychologists, teachers, parents and students. Wausau Area Hmong Association offers several programs that promote cultural awareness in institutions and parochial schools in the Wausau District. Its other programs provide education, translation, transportation, housing, training and various assistance services. Additionally, the organization features a radio show that provides local, state, national and international news, community announcements and education, music and song dedications, as well as various talk shows.
