Wayside Family Restaurants are owned by Rex and Molly Measmer. Rex started his restaurant business career in 1975 with the Showmars Restaurant in Charlotte, followed by McDonald's in 1985. His dream was to one day become a restaurant owner and when the opportunity became available, Rex left McDonald's. In September of 1992 that dream turned into a reality with the opening of the first Wayside Family Restaurant in Oakboro, North Carolina. The Church Street location in Cabarrus County opened in October of 2000. Rex has business partners for his Branchview and Express locations.
