Whitaker Oil is a third-generation, family-owned, chemical distributor. It started in Atlanta with a single gasoline pump in the 1920s. The company added solvents, bulk storage and custom blending for customers in the 1930s. In 1998, Whitaker Chemicals in Spartanburg, S.C., was established to serve customers in South Carolina and North Carolina. Whitaker Oil s products include acetates, alcohols, carbonates, chlorinated replacements and solvents, epoxy resins and hardeners, glycols, mineral oils, process oils, lubricants, phosphates, silicones and sodium compounds. The company has distribution locations in Atlanta, Savannah, Ga., Ocoee, Fla., and Spartanburg, S.C.
