Established in 1961, Whitten Middle School enrolls more than 780 students and has over 80 staff members. The school offers education to students in grades six through eight. Its academic curricula include mathematics, social studies, science, language arts and history. Whitten Middle School serves breakfast and lunch to students. It also organizes various sports activities that include soccer, golf, cheerleading, basketball, football and baseball. In addition, the school operates a parent-teacher organization that supports and sponsors a variety of school events and activities. It is a part of Jackson Public Schools, which is a school district that serves students in kindergarten through grade 12 through its elementary, middle and high schools.
