The Camp Carter YMCA is a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities to campers to explore the outdoors. Its resident camp activities include sailing, canoeing, swimming, archery, rifling, skeet shooting, horseback riding, hiking, dance, biking and various sports. The organization also hosts day camps that include swimming, arts and crafts and games. The Camp Carter YMCA offers The Journey, a program to develop leadership qualities in campers between the ages of 13 and 15. It also offers an outdoor education program that focuses on subject areas that include forest and aquatic ecology, sensory awareness, equine science, geology, creative writing and outdoor recreation.
