Established in 1853, the Greater Portland YMCA is a part of The Cumberland County YMCA, which is a 60-member Portland Young Men's Christian Association. Greater Portland YMCA offers several family-oriented programs and services to children and their parents. It offers youth swimming lessons to adults, wellness programs and family activities, such as parent and child playgroups. The association operates various programs related to aquatics camp, child care, father's support group, wellness activities, school sports and recreation, and youth and family events. Through before school programs, the Greater Portland YMCA organizes various activities, such as art, drawing, homework assistance, general play, and songs and games.
