Together, the nation's more than 2,400 YMCAs are the largest nonprofit community service organization in America, working to meet the health and social service needs of nearly 18 million men, women and children in 10,000-plus communities in the United States, including the YMCA National Capital in Washington, D.C. YMCAs are for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. The YMCA has a scholarship program for the financially needy, to assist with membership fees. YMCAs are also located in more than 120 countries around the world, serving in excess of 30 million people. About 230 U.S. YMCAs maintain relationships with YMCAs in other countries.
